Reader's Digest Contest Update: Sunday
If #14 had electricity we could keep one eye on the "vote
now" button to pounce on it the minute it turns red while we drink beer and
watch football.
We'd only need a TV because we could keep the beer cold in the
babbling brook that causes hypothermia to anything within a 100 mile radius.
It'd have to be Hamm's beer "from the land of sky blue waters," and I bet
without any glitches at all the bears would be willing to come out of the woods
and wiggle to that theme song. They'd be so happy to reprise that jingle that
they'd be asking us to be dance partners instead of dinner.
No beer though. No electiricity either. Some of the team is
drumming up a tag football game. Others, like me, are going to be the
cheerleaders. We'll shout encouragement llike "blood makes the grass grow,"
and "we play mean on site fourteen," and the real rooter tooter, "BECKY, BECKY,
BECKY," every time somebody gets tackled because I've not seen a flag football
tame yet that didn't turn into tackle.
And the standings are: We have 1791 votes. Would ya' look at
that? 9 votes away from 1800. Smokin' hot. Yesterday we were at 1765 so we
picked up 27 votes. WHAT? Let's not pull a Gina here. We have until November
15th to send BECKY packiong in #13 and then the voting will be over (Thank you,
God!) BECKY has 1958 votes putting her 167 votes ahead of us. Yesterday she
waa177 votes ahead of us. Whittling her down. And, she doesn't even see it
coming.
