Reader's Digest Short, Short Story Thursday Update
BRRRRRRR!! #14 doesn't have a furnace
or even a wood burning stove. Just a campfire ring and that damn babbling brook
. I was just noticing that the blue of the water matches the blue of my lips.
Next stop better be someplace that has an amenity for every season like an In 'N Out Burger.
Found a solution though. Some
toothless geezer from these parts reminded me that BECKY's plot at #13 has cords
of seasoned oak wood all lined up for cold weather use 'cause she has a wood
burning stove. She'd better park her tail close to it and enjoy because very
soon she'll be shivering next to a frozen babbling brook.
The geezer and I exchanged knowing
winks and I slipped him a little something and he is rounding up the rest of his
Deliverance buddies. They are going to sneak into #13 on cat's paws when the
camp is playing Old Maid and help themselves to what clearly is more than BECKY
could ever use in the way of firewood. If you hear a banjo playing you know
they have begun their foray.
In the last 24 hours we have fattened
up from 1623 votes to 1667 votes, a gain of 44 votes. Maybe some of the team's
voting fingers fell off in the freezing weather? Nah. Wouldn't it be fun to be
voting in the 70 or better range? How about that? Wouldn't that be fun? Let's
find out, shall we?
Gina, still in #15 with 1578 votes,
picked up 21 votes over her prior 1657 votes. BECKY, 24 hours ago was at 1812
votes and 189 votes ahead of us. Right now she is at 1860 votes, 193 votes
ahead of us. What???? We gotta' tackle BECKY. We gotta' get to the wood stove
before we get delirious and lose our capacity to vote. Hobble Becky! Hobble
Becky! That's our new chant. Catchy isn't it?
CHHAARRGE! Thank you for
voting!
