Maybe, it’s just meBut it sounds quite absurdTo have letters in wordsThat are seen but not heard.I have this ideaWhich can’t be dispelled,That those aberrant wordsSomeone long ago misspelled.These misspelled wordsBefore anyone could sight’emThroughout all the yearsWere repeated ad infinitum.So words now have letters,That seem quite out of placeAnd serve no other purpose Than taking up space.The silent lettersWhere ere they occurredI now gather upTo make the first silent word.So watch real closelyThe reason’s because,I might be using that wordWhenever I pause.Silent sentences or paragraphsI would like to conveyBut the problem arises,That I really can’t say.
