Wild Turkeys
We live on a creek. For as long as I can remember we have seen flocks of wild turkeys on one or another parts of the creek bed but never close to us. Things have changed. Last year for the first time on Thanksgiving Day as we were loading the car to make out journey to share the feast, three bold-as-brass wild turkeys sauntered up the street. We were completely amused about their appearance on the one day that they should certainly head for hills. As time went by we realized that our flock amounted to 8 hens. (We have yet to see a Tom) They made Izzy crazy as they nested in the trees in our backyard and gobbled at him.
This year we have two dozen! They must migrate because I haven't seen them at all since last fall until about two weeks ago when they were out in force on our street and in our neighbors' and our yard. Still no Tom. Very curious.
