I know that Elizabeth Gilbert (author of Eat, Pray, Love) and her husband, Felipe, own and live in a de-consecrated church in New Jersey.  I think that would be too burdensome for me! I am just not holy enough to pull it off!

    

 

Feighcullen Church

This beautiful Gothic building was constructed in 1829,designed by the famous architect John Semple and is currently owned by the Hovenden family. The structure has recently undergone restoration to the roof and windows. According to Dr. Maurice Craig the famous architectural historian ' Feighcullen is by a large margin the most accomplished and attractive church of it's kind." Feighcullen is listed as part of Ireland's Architectural Heritage.

The construction is of finely cut limestone with a graceful Gothic style entrance door and an imposing belfry with a beautiful steeple, the bell is still in place. There are four matching smaller steeples on each corner of the building, adding to it's elegance and symmetry.
