Laurel's Tomatoes
I got an email from Laurel yesterday saying that she is cutting back her business in 2009 so if I wanted tomatoes, order early! I hesitated only momentarily.
This year was the first year of my life that I grew tomatoes and I started out gung ho, as I always do with new projects, but... the bloom is off the rose. I have finally come to realize that I can not do the same thing every day because I can't! I get rebellious and out-of-sorts when I am required to water and feed and generally tend to my tomato plants every single morning. Not even the lusciousness of the tomatoes makes up for it!
However, I know that after a six month hiatus I will be ready to dive back into tomato farming again. So, I ordered yesterday. The only tomato we grew in 2008 that is being invited back in 2009 is the Paul Robeson. John and I agree with Laurel that it is the #1 tomato out there. Other than that one, I am getting three new varieties, based on Laurel's recommendation of course. We will have Carmello, Goose Creek and Green Zebra in our "garden" in 2009 along with the Paul Robeson. Once again I bought two of each plant so we will have 8 plants total.
The little darlings will arrive in late April and I know that I will welcome them with open arms.
In case you want to order early, here is Laurel's information. I will attest to the service and the product being outstanding!

Heirloom Tomato Plants

I love tomatoes, but I especially love garden fresh heirlooms. I bought Brandywines the other day out at the farm. That meat loaf recipe looks very tasty! R
