There's something about candles

The site is "The Artful Home" and it is chock-a-block with great stuff!
I went looking for unusual candle sticks and I found this trio!

"Summer Jewel Columns"

Art Glass Candlesticks

By: James Holmes
Gem-like colors in blown glass, created using centuries-old techniques. Sold as a set of three.

Dimensions:
Large: 9"H x 4"W
Small: 7"H x 4"W
Medium: 8"H x 4"W

Price: $335
s+h:  $25

Okay, appreciate them I do but $335.00 for the set is too steep for me so it is good that they don't fit into my decor anyway.  Just as I was thinking that $335.00 for three candle sticks was silly I found this...

"Richard"

Candle

By: Jessica Lauber
Indulge in a rare treat of lighting. This paraffin candle is embedded with mosaic tiles of glass, creating a dramatic glow as the wick burns down. Poured, finished, balanced, sculpted, and polished entirely by hand. 100% cotton wick. Burn time: forever.
Dimensions: 6"H  x  6"W  x  6"D

Item: A7599-004
Price: $180
s+h:  $10

What the hell?  I blew up the picture so you could study the candle as carefully as I am.  $180.00, eh?  I must be out of touch.

Well, then, I'm out of touch too....Yikes! I used to make handmade candles quite often and am pretty sure I know the techniques used in that very pretty block candle....$180? Uh, no.....not even in today's economy.

As far as the candleholders? They are gorgeous and I know blown glass is a true artform. BUT....a really nice technique is to buy clean lined glass holders, such as those, and paint them with glass stain....very, very close to the same look if you're careful in application and following directions.
