I had a poodle at one point; you are right, they are very loyal and protective. A miniature.... One time a salesman knocked on my door; of course I opened the door because I was not afraid of anything. As soon as my doggie heard the guy's voice, she came charging out from another room and stood between me'n'the guy. A low grrrr could be heard from the area of my ankles. "Does your dog bite?" "Yes, I lied." (At least to that point she had never bitten anyone) He left, and my doggie stayed with me for the balance of the day... "Atta Girl!"
