Playing the piano
I enjoy playing the piano. I took lessons for many years and then didn't play at all for many years. Go figure. When we bought the house that we live in now I bought the piano that was already in the house. It has a wonderful sound. Not a grand piano by any means, it is, in fact, a rather stubby upright but once you sit down to play it you think Steinway all the way.
My mother played the piano when I was growing up and my dad started taking piano lessons after he retired. He played for years before he decided he was not going to get better and stopped playing (looking back he was probably already in the beginning stages of Alzheimers when he made that decision). My brother probably took 3 1/2 lessons totally but he has a wonderful ear and he bought the coolest black lacquer piano and played music that required you to clap your hands and dance in place until he sold the piano in one of his moves.
Anyway, years and years ago my mother bought me the very best book of pieces that I drag out gleefully every time I sit down at the piano.
I was just delighted to see that it is still available from Amazon!

When I was in high school, I had an after-school and weekend job in a convenience store... the wages were $14.00 per week...$2.00 a day to scoop ice cream and weigh out oreo cookies. Not quite enough for a music book in 1970. LOL
