Yum, I tell ya'!

Let me begin by saying I am not a beer drinker.  It always sounds so good to me and after the first swallow I don't want anymore and what a waste of brew that is.  However, when we went to the wedding reception of our friends, Vicki and Dennis, they served this beer on tap.  OMG!  I loved it.  So, I thought I would share that find with you! It was the pale ale that they served and I loved.

Coast Range Brewing Co.

Established in 1995 in Gilroy, California, the family-owned and operated Coast Range Brewing Company has quickly made a name for itself as one of California's finest microbreweries. Ron Erskine, President of Coast Range, founded the brewery with an eye toward producing draft beers of the highest possible quality and consistency. So popular were the brewery's initial offerings that Erskine soon decided to add a bottling line, and today the award-winning Coast Range beers are available in bottles as well as on draft throughout Northern California.

Erskine's vision of quality is shared by Coast Range's Master Brewer Peter Licht. Trained at U.C Davis' prestigious Master Brewers program, Licht has been with Coast Range since its founding, and has been instrumental in shaping its approach to brewing. In crafting the Coast Range beers, Licht uses the finest ingredients to create the brewery's signature array of flavors.

Coast Range produces its beers in a steam-fired, 20 barrel-batch size brewhouse, custom built by Liquid Assets Brewing Systems; the brewhouse includes four 40- barrel fermenters (double batch size) and one 80-barrel fermenter (four batch size). The brewery's 28-head Crown Cork and Seal Uniblend bottler has been specially retrofitted for double pre-evacuation, producing very low "airs" (residual oxygen) in the bottles and thus ensuring maximum freshness and shelf-life. The bottling line fills 180 bottles per minute..

Coast Range Pale Ale

Coast Range Pale Ale*

OG 13.5, FG 4.0, Alc. 5.25/4.4, IBU 32

This is our flagship beer and one of the finest pale ales you will find. Coast Range Pale Ale incorporates both British and American ale traditions. It's deep amber color and rich malt body come from our domestic 2-row malt and four of the finest British pale and crystal malts. A generous amount of Pacific Northwest hops supply a well balanced bitterness and fragrant floral bouquet. Our proprietary yeast provides a fresh fruity aroma and a clean satisfying finish. Coast Range Pale Ale won a Silver certificate and a Third place ribbon in the traditional Pale Ale category at the California State Fair Commercial craft Beer competition in 1995 and 1997. It also earned a Silver Medal in the 1998 World Beer Championships and a Bronze in the 1997 World Beer Championships.
