Brief Description of the character

Una Spenser  A dashing and daring woman who is equal in stature in her story as Ahab was in his.
Ahab  The captain of the Pequod and the captain of the fabled run-in with Moby Dick.
Kit Una's life-long male friend who acts as Una's accomplice when she embarks on her whaling ship adventures disguised as a man.

Summary:  Write a summary about the story. Don't retell the whole story. The opening sentence of the story: "Captain Ahab was neither my first husband nor my last".  And from there we take off at a gallop and we do not slow down throughout the entire 666 pages.  This book is simply captivating.  The book is told from Una's perspective and she is a most fascinating creature.

Conclusion: How did the story end ? Too soon.  This book is one of the rare ones that you hope will go on forever.

Did you like the book? Why or Why not?  I loved the book and was so happy when Naslund's next book came out in 2003, Four Spirits. Amazingly I have had the book since 2003 and not read page one yet.  I had better remedy that!
