Such good memories are flooding back. About 10 years ago, I was on a tour across Northern Europe. Travelling through Poland and Bylorussia, I was fascinated and delighted at the unbelievably large number of gnomes for sale, displayed on residents' front gardens. Immediately my mind started to work out a plan to take a couple home, or ship them at the very least....I thought better of it. I still think of the gnomes.
